Leaving the dojo: At the end of a lesson, it is not necessary to wait and leave the dojo in order of rank. But if you do meet at the exit, it is just a matter of courtesy to allow the senior to go first.

Japanese Grammar: You will sometimes hear people say ‘arigato gozaimashito’ (with a ‘tah’ at the end) or ‘arigato gozaimasu’ (without the ‘tah’). It is just a case of thanking someone in the future or past tense. ‘Arigato gozaimashita’ is used at the end of the lesson to thank the Sensei for the lesson just given. ‘Arigato gozaimasu’ would be used at the start of the lesson to thank the Sensei for the lesson they are about to give.

DIRECTIONS TO THE DOJO AT ASHLYNS

As you enter the main Ashlyns School gates, take the road that goes round the left and back of the building, past the Astroturf and carry on until you see the new sports hall on the left - park in the car park on your right opposite the sports hall. The entrance to the Dojo is located next to the children's play area in the car park. Upon entering the building, turn left and the dojo entrance is on your left

The Upper Hall at All Saints Church is located to the left side of the church - if you are facing the church from Shrublands Ave. Enter through the side door and go up the stairs to your left. Keep going up two floors, then turn left again. The dojo door (wooden) will be in front of you.

​
To reach Chesham Youth Centre, head towards Chesham town centre and follow signs for the Elgiva Theatre or the large Sainsbury’s. From the town centre, continue onto Bellingdon Road and follow it for just a minute or two. The Youth Centre sits on the left-hand side as the road rises slightly, with a small car park directly outside and clear signage on the building. If you’re walking from Chesham Underground Station, it’s around a 10–12 minute walk: come out of the station, turn right toward the High Street, then follow the road uphill to Bellingdon Road until you see the Youth Centre on your left.
